Evaluation - as the stylist

This was my creation of my partner's hair design.

 

 

My partner created this design consisting of two backcombed pieces that look like a heart shape at the front of her head and then for the rest of the hair to be curled underneath. For the heart shape at the front, she said to back comb it but this did not create the exact shape she wanted from her hair chart, I think a padding piece would have created this better. The look was meant to be messy looking and not neat but I wasn't too sure on what parts of it she meant and which parts I should clip into place properly and what parts to leave slightly messy. Although the hairstyle was quite simple, it took a long time to create as Phoebe's hair was quite thin and I had to backcomb it for a while to get a strong structure to the hair and I used a lot of hair grips and hairspray.

I used my pintail comb at the start to section the hair off perfectly into two equal parts and then also splitting the front section into two equal parts. For the bottom of the hair, I used a curling wand and held it horizontally and held it in the hair for 10 seconds to make the end turn in and curl.

I don't know how I feel about my final work as I feel I could have done a bit better, although my partner wanted the hair to look a bit messy I think there are some little pieces that I could have fixed to make it even better. I feel like me and my partner didn't really communicate well for the assessments, I practised the hair design on the Katie head prior to the assessment but not on my actual partner due to me being off ill for a while.

This was my partner's hair design, she had not sent me this prior to the assessment and she didn't have her charts with her for the lesson we were meant to bring them in and she briefly explained what she wanted her design to look like. Based on the brief information she told me, I went and practised on my Katie head, a while later she sent me an image of her design she had practised on her Katie head with no information about it or how she created the design. I seen the hair chart for the first time on the assessment. For her design, she wanted the ends of her hair pinning up and because of a miscommunication I thought she wanted it to be curled underneath. I don't feel like me and my partner had enough communication throughout this assessment but I did my best and tried to get the design as good as I could get.
