Hair task!!

  • (Ethnic Hairstyles, no date)

We got given a task to complete in class today. We had to either create a bridal hairstyle on our Katie head or a hairstyle for a catwalk show. I choose the catwalk show hairstyle as I prefer big, funky hair rather than neat hair tied back or with braids and plaits. After I decide to pick the catwalk hairstyle, I started researching some different hairstyles from past catwalks that inspired me. I came across this image and it really caught my eye, I like the different details in her hair with the twisty plaits at the top and the crimping at the bottom of her hair and I also like the way the model has a middle parting and the stylists have brushed the crimping in her hair to make it look frizzy.

This was the second image that I found inspiring. I like the curls at the front of her hair and then the messy bun at the top of her head. The stylists have added some accessories to her hair like little clips. I liked this idea the best and decided to use it as inspiration for the task.

This was my design that I created. I decided to take some inspiration from the second image and put some curls at the front of the hair. I used a curling wand and by placing the hair in sections by using a pintail comb, placed it horizontally and created 9 curls at the front of the head. The Katie head's hair was too short to put it in a ponytail or create a stylish bun so I just created a basic bun on the crown of the head.

I'm happy with this design I came out with, I really like how the curls came out and they remind me of a bunch of roses and Queen Elizabeth loved flowers and having some kind of symbolism in her clothes or hair so this style for a contemporary Elizabethan look would work well I think. I don't think I need to improve on anything and I didn't come across any obstacles whilst doing this design.
